SPS Commerce Minneapolis HOP-TO-IT Brew-Off 2016

by | Nov 11, 2016 | Company, TeamSPS

SPS Commerce Minneapolis hosted our sixth annual HOP-TO-IT Brew-Off event that celebrates our giving spirit during November’s United Way 2016 campaign week. The event was born in 2012 with the enthusiasm of 20 SPS home brewers donating their homemade concoctions to a good cause. The motivation for the event was to honor employees that donated their hard earned dollars to the United Way at a certain threshold as an ‘employee appreciation’ event. It has grown and matured since we introduced the traveling ‘King of Beers’ trophy 6 short years ago and has become one of the signature events during campaign week in our downtown Minneapolis, MN office.

Over the past few years, we have partnered with Minnesota’s first Certified Cicerone™, Michael Agnew, with A Perfect Pint, to help give guidance on providing an engaging experience for our brewers and help for us to pair food together with the wide variety of homebrews that SPSers provide, making it all the more special. Being centrally located downtown Minneapolis only helps foster the home-brew mentality. With brewstillery’s and micro-brew shops popping up left and right around downtown and the north loop, it’s obvious that this isn’t just a fad, and that the Surly dream can become a reality in a quick hurry. This year’s first-ever OktoBEERfest themed event offered take-always for employees such as memorial beer tasting glasses and cool ‘brewer’ wearables for all who donated their brews. An event with beer isn’t an event without some uplifting entertainment. This year we had one of our very own SPS employees dressed in lederhosen manning the Hammerschlogan game – a definite highlight for all J Not to mention beer toss, tasty food pairings and pretzel necklaces!

Cheers to another year of putting the FUN in fundraising SPS – and celebrating with your own staff’s finest brew! All for a GREAT cause and partnership with Greater Twin Cities United Way to help lift up those in need in our surrounding communities.
