Woods Distribution

Founded in 2011 and headquartered in San Diego, California, Chosen Foods has grown into a leading avocado-based brand across the U.S. and Canada. They are known for quality, purity, and simple ingredients across oils, sprays, mayonnaises, dressings, and condiments.

As the business expanded, Chosen Foods needed a supply chain that could keep pace with growth across both their U.S. and Canadian operations. Over their decade-long relationship with SPS Commerce, they have scaled from one trading partner to dozens of customers, multiple 3PLs, and a growing supplier network. Today, they use SPS solutions for order fulfillment, procure-to-pay automation with their direct suppliers, and revenue recovery.

The challenge

Chosen Foods was preparing for its next phase of growth and migrating to a new ERP, Acumatica. This shift meant their supply chain processes also needed to move to the new system, and the team had a firm six months to make it happen. The transition required uninterrupted operations across dozens of trading partners, multiple 3PLs, and varied retailer requirements, all while keeping day‑to‑day business running smoothly.

To continue to scale their business, they also needed better visibility into inbound shipments to support production planning and ensure that ingredients and shipments were arriving on time. Managing relationships with suppliers and co-manufacturers required clearer data and a more efficient procure-to-pay process.

On the revenue side, deductions were growing more complex. Each retailer had different documentation requirements and resolution processes. Chosen Foods needed a single way to manage deductions across Walmart, Amazon, Target, Kroger, KeHe, UNFI, and others so teams could recover payments and improve internal accuracy.

The solution

SPS Commerce helped Chosen Foods build a unified approach to order fulfillment, supplier collaboration, and revenue management through a fully integrated Acumatica deployment.

The project included support across their U.S. and Canadian businesses as one coordinated program.

Order-to-Cash

SPS automated order processing through Acumatica, supporting EDI and PDF orders with a consistent approach to how orders enter the system. Complex requirements were built directly into the workflows, including parent and child account structures, multiple discount layers, and custom documents developed in close partnership with NexTec, the VAR partner, to support co-manufacturing.PDF Order Automation became an important part of the project, helping eliminate manual entry and giving Chosen Foods a more standardized way to manage purchase orders across their customer base.

Procure-to-Pay

SPS onboarded all suppliers and co‑manufacturers into the procure‑to‑pay workflows, making sure every partner was set up correctly, understood the process, and was ready to adopt the new way of working. This gave Chosen Foods real-time visibility into inbound shipments and improved accuracy across acknowledgements and ASNs. These updates supported production planning and ensured suppliers were aligned with how the business needed to operate.

Revenue Recovery

SPS centralized deduction management across major retailers. Automation handled dispute submissions, document attachments, and reporting. The team gained clearer insight into where deductions were occurring and how to prevent them, helping them recover payments and strengthen internal processes.

The project was delivered ahead of schedule and without operational downtime. Trading partners were not impacted, and the business continued running smoothly throughout the transition.
