LECO Corporation has been a leader and innovator in analytical instrumentation since 1936, providing laboratories worldwide with high-end instrumentation and consumables. In 2007, LECO sought to provide faster customer service on small orders for consumables, many which sell for just a few dollars. At that time, customers would contact LECO's customer service department by phone to place their order for new equipment or a few consumables. LECO wanted to make it easier for customers to do business with them by placing their smaller orders online.
LECO wanted all orders, regardless of size, to flow through its Oracle order management system to streamline shipping and invoicing processes. LECO soon discovered that finding a catalog solution that could integrate online orders with the Oracle system was difficult to find.
LECO selected SPS Commerce's Online Ordering Service since it provided a personalized online catalog for each of LECO's metallographic customers. Each customer is given a unique login to an online catalog where they can view and order the consumable products that are suited for their equipment and laboratory. In addition, the SPS service also offered proven integration with Oracle to eliminate data entry for orders for LECO’s metallographic consumables product line.
With SPS Commerce, LECO found it easy to keep its online catalog up-to-date. LECO would simply update a database file with new product information, price changes, photos, etc., and the updates would be automatically uploaded by SPS Commerce to LECO’s online catalogs several times each day.

After implementing SPS’ Online Ordering Service, LECO saw a 15-20% increase in sales of its metallographic consumables. In addition, customer service staff can focus the majority of their time on building relationships and understanding customers' needs. For example, instead of doing data entry to place small orders, they are using that time to answer customers’ questions or expedite orders.
